"The operation is over. The situation is fully under control," said army spokesman, Col. Rashidul Hasan.
Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Mohammad Masud Tuhin, commander of the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) who stormed the restaurant, mengarakan, fell several victims including six hostage-takers.
"We shot dead six terrorists. Area under their control had previously been released," said Masood told the television station of India's Times.
Masud said some hostages were also victims, but he did not provide further details.
Masud continued, troops freed the hostages, including a Japanese citizen were injured and two citizens of Sri Lanka. He added that some of the terrorists were also arrested.
The local television station reported, Bangladesh special forces stormed the restaurant Holey Artisan Bakery at 7:40 am.
Troops were deployed, including personnel with automatic assault rifles and at least seven armored vehicles and ambulances.
Local media also reported a citizen of Argentina and two citizens of Bangladesh have previously saved on a Saturday morning, but the news about their condition has not been obtained.
Commandos who stormed the restaurant was found five bodies covered in blood lying on the floor. So far it is not known whether the five bodies of the attackers or hostages.
So far though ISIS claims masterminded the attacks, the Bangladesh government has not yet issued a response. Moreover, during the Bangladesh government has always denied the existence of ISIS in the country.
While the US government said, had heard that ISIS claims but could not confirm the authenticity of the claim.
Around 35 diners, including 20 foreign nationals was taken hostage when a group of people stormed bersenajta restaurant located in the Gulshan area, which occupied many diplomatic offices.
